I think you are right. We set this up with privacy in mind but I think making profiles private by default was not a good idea. This will be changed for future registrations. I have not been able to pinpoint the login issue. I have had one other person bring this up and it seemed to be an IE6 issue but I have not been able to duplicate it myself. What browser and connection speed are you using?
