Re: For Student Pilots

I appreciate the thoughts on owning vs. renting. I have always thought that owning the asset is always the best way to go. However, insurance on the airplane seems to be the largest stumbling block. What insurance companies can you suggest that would provide a decent rate for a new pilot, under 100 hours and a Cessna 150. Any thoughts to how we can get a decent rate? Thanks again for the contibution!

Re: Re: For Student Pilots

Guess I'm getting old, Gates. I've been flying the same plane for the last 18 years, and have never been unable to get insurance for it. As a consequence, I completely forgot about adding the insurance costs into the mix. So I got on the phone today, and should have some quotes in the next day or so. Soon as I winnow through all the numbers, I'll post the results. Sorry 'bout that.

Re: Re: For Student Pilots

Just received a quote from an agent I know. Took her a while to get the thing. Insurance would run about $722.00 for the zero-time pilot, and would of course go down once he/she received their certificate. Not bad. Roughly $60 per month.
